Our family chalet
Chalet Mallum has been a very special place for our family since 1978. It is where we spend time together, enjoy the peace and experience authentic Swiss mountain life.
For the past few years, we have been delighted to share this cherished family retreat with our guests. We maintain and modernise the chalet step by step, while respecting its original character.
The chalet consists of two fully equipped holiday apartments. The ground-floor apartment accommodates up to 5 guests, while the upper-floor apartment accommodates up to 9 guests. The entire chalet can also be rented for groups of up to 14 guests. It is ideal for families and groups of friends who want to enjoy a holiday together while still having plenty of space and privacy.
Grengiols, a village with character
Chalet Mallum is located at around 1,000 metres above sea level in the peaceful and authentic mountain village of Grengiols. From the chalet, you can enjoy panoramic views across the village, the Rhône Valley and the surrounding mountains.
Grengiols is known for the unique Grängjer tulip, which grows nowhere else in the world except here and in the immediate surroundings. The tulips mainly bloom during the second half of May and can be discovered along the local tulip trail.
Just a short walk from the chalet is a play and sports area with a playground, football pitch, barbecue area and free mini golf course. When temperatures remain below freezing, the mini golf course is transformed into a free natural ice rink. Ice skates are also available to borrow free of charge.
Grengiols railway station is approximately a 15-minute walk away. From there, the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway provides convenient connections to Brig, Fiesch and the surrounding mountain regions.
Something to enjoy in every season
The area surrounding Grengiols offers plenty of possibilities for anyone who loves adventure, nature, tranquillity and sport.
In summer, you can hike, mountain bike and explore the impressive mountain scenery of the Valais. The Great Aletsch Glacier, Binntal Nature Park and historic mountain villages such as Ernen are all within easy reach. World-famous Zermatt and the Matterhorn also make a wonderful day trip.
In winter, you can ski, go winter hiking, sledge and ice skate. The Aletsch Arena and Bellwald ski areas are easily accessible. For a special day on the slopes, you can also visit Zermatt at the foot of the Matterhorn. Those who prefer a slower pace can enjoy the tranquillity, the views and the warmth of the fireplace.
The Valais also has plenty to discover on the culinary side, from local cheeses and traditional raclette to regional wines and welcoming mountain restaurants.
